Identity Theft
What is identity theft?
Identity theft is a type of fraud that involves stealing money or gaining other benefits by pretending to be someone else. Identity theft can occur in many ways – from someone using your credit card illegally to make purchases to having your entire identity assumed by another person to open bank accounts, take out loans or conduct illegal business under your name. Having your identity stolen can be both financially and emotionally devastating.
Protect yourself from identity theft
Your identity might have been stolen if you’re:
- Getting unsolicited bills, Credit Card or Loan statements;
- Receiving calls from Creditors regarding debts that you know nothing about;
- Finding it hard to get a Credit Card or Loan due to an unexplained poor credit rating.
If you think your identity might have been stolen, you need to let us know as soon as possible by calling us or attending your nearest branch.
